Ahh thanks byteboon! This finally fixed the problem that I had since 2004-05-15.

I've recently had to do a system restore and for some reason I now cannot generate a proper key (contents of rc4.key only has "128 bit" or "40 bit" depending on what bit I chose to generate. Textpad shows "128 bit" followed by 4 solid squares).
